Thursday 10th May – Ian McCormack the Jellyfish Man

Stung by five deadly Box jellyfish, Ian was pronounced dead. Following an amazing experience, Ian returned to life just as the doctor was about to begin the autopsy!

Ian was night diving off the island of Mauritius when he was stung multiple times by Box Jellyfish, which are among the most venomous creatures in the world. Ian is not 100% sure which species of Box Jelllyfish that stung him as it has been very hard to find info from Mauritius on them. Ian suffered as a child from allergies and had to take antihistamines on a regular basis as even a mosquito bite would cause him to swell up, so his reaction to these jellyfish stings was very bad. His testimony relates how he clung to life while getting to hospital, was declared clinically dead soon afterwards, and how during this time he had an encounter with God, which radically changed the direction of his life.

Ian was with us in November last year and we were pleased to welcome him to a special meeting at the URC in Maldon

Further details about Ian can be found here.

Friday 4th May David Gilbey

David became a “Born Again” Christian in 198o. A year later he became a police officer with Essex Police, but things did not go well. 18 months into his 2 year probationary period he was summoned to see his inspector and told he might have to leave. But through the miraculous hand of God that very night received the infilling or Baptism of the Holy Spirit, which turned his life and career around.

But is wasn’t until just 5 years ago that came to know a different kind of authority to that the police service gave him; the authority of believers to heal the sick in the name of Jesus.

More of David’s testimony can be read here.

Friday 30th March 2012 – Dave Pickett

Tonight Dave, who is now a Congregational Church minister joined us and shared his testimony of coming to faith in Jesus.

Dave was in the Royal Marines and served as a RM Commando for 12 years seeing active service in N. Ireland, Cyprus and the Falklands War. After the Falklands War he remembered the soldier’s prayer that he had prayed everyday… ‘God get me out of this in one piece, and I will come to Church!’ as he thought on this and about the Christian faith this led him to ultimately put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

Dave passionately shared that he loves having ‘adventures with God’ and believes that life with Jesus is full of exciting opportunities to serve and enjoy living out the Christian life. You can read his testimony here.

Friday 2nd March 2012 – John Wright

We were pleased to have John Wright, who came with his wife Susan, as our speaker tonight. John has been with us twice before and always brings a powerful and timely word from God. Tonight was no exception.

Amongst his talents, John Wright is a former Bank Chairman and Massey Ferguson Tractor Dealer and International Director of the FGBMFI. Educated at some of the best schools and universities, as a bachelor of 32 it seemed as if he had a brilliant career before him. But although there has been much blessing in his life, he has seen tribulation; businesses collapsed, a desert experience of two years of unemployment, suffering cancer and finally the underserved humiliation of prison. All this has built a man of faith and endurance whose sense of humour has never left him. You can read his testimony here.

John also runs a publishing company, Branch Press, and is an accomplished author of several books and booklets which carry amazing stories of miracles and God-incidences!

We started tonight with about 40 minutes of worship, led by David Gilbey. We invited the Holy Spirit to come and move amongst us and He surely did. There was an awesome sense of God in the church. Several people, including John as he stood up to speak, commented about the tangible nature of His presence. One lady afterwards said that she saw a figure of a man, (an angel perhaps?), walking around as we worshipped and said she saw a cloud of what she described as “gold dust” falling at one point. It was certainly a remarkable time, during which there was a message in tongues with another person bringing interpretation.

Roland Tann then gave some announcements and told us that a lady was prayed for at the last meeting, who for many years had had a large mole on her nose. Following the meeting, and over a period of several days, the skin flaked off and now the mole has completely gone!

When John came to speak, he firstly encouraged us, in a number of ways, to share our faith with others. He reminded us that the words of prophesy contained in the Bible about Jesus’ return, were fast being fulfilled and that he believed that Jesus’ return, the Second Coming. was close at hand.

He told an emotional story about a South African lady who was able to forgive the police officer who, during the time of apartheid, ordered the murder of her son and then her husband. You can read this story here. John encouraged us to forgive those who might have wronged us.

He then went on to the main subject of his message, and that was humility. Jesus was a servant, he was humble. We must at all times walk in humility and if we do, God can then bless us. He said that if we walk with Jesus and are filled with His Holy Spirit, we will be rejected and ridiculed by religious people. He spoke of us having to be refined like gold.

He finally spoke about healing, that we should look to Jesus, not at the symptoms. The Bible says that by his wounds on the Cross, we are healed. Keep focused on the Word and we will be healed. He said that often we are healed as we go – like the 10 lepers in the Bible in Luke 17. God can work instant miracles, but often there is a process involved as God has an individual plan for each of us.

John gave an appeal to receive Salvation in Jesus, and two people responded. Others came forward to receive the Baptism, the fulness of the Holy Spirit and a large number of people came forward for prayer over a number of physical situations. We look forward to hearing reports that people were healed, as they went.

Friday 3rd February 2012 – Roland Tann

Our very own Roland Tann was the speaker.

We had a time of great blessing tonight at our February meeting. Following a time worship with much “singing in the Spirit” (using other tongues as described in the book of Acts), Roland spoke and gave his testimony and spoke about how God wants us to have freedom from being oppressed.

He read from Psalm 103 1-6:

Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.

A number of people came out to be Baptised (filled) with the Holy Spirit and a number for ministry for physical and emotional issues.

THE DEAF WILL HEAR!

Also, after the meeting had ended, one of the Team was speaking to a lady who just happened to mention she was deaf in one ear and had been for many, many years. She wasn’t even asking for prayer, but was willing to receive it anyway and as she was ministered to, she said she could hear from it! AMEN!

Friday 2nd December 2011 - Dan Chesney

We were very pleased to have Dan with us tonight, together with his son Joshua, for their first visit to Flame of Revival.

Currently located in West Sussex, England, Dan has been ministering for over 25 years – in churches, schools, conferences, crusades, universities and media. He also ministers interdenominationally and internationally. He heads up a ministry called Side by Side and his son Joshua is also part of his team.

His teaching has ben described as dynamic, insightful and often humorous. He moves in the prophetic and has a strong alter ministry of salvation, healing and faith. He is a minister of the Word and the Spirit. There is an unshakable passion that comes through his life and ministry. From in-depth teaching to evangelistic meetings his heart is to see the power and grace of Christ transform lives, churches and communities.

Tonight, after a powerful time of worship led by Flame of Revival Team member, David Gilbey, Dan delivered an equally powerful word on Faith. With an appeal for Salvation at the end, we saw two ladies make a commitment to follow Jesus as their Lords and Saviour, and afterwards a number of people came forward for ministry into physical and other needs and many clearly met with God.

David Gilbey said of the word that Dan brought:

“We had a wonderful Flame of Revival meeting last night at Great Baddow. Dan spoke wonderfully on the subject of Faith. One particular thing he said really struck a chord with me, that Biblical faith – one of my favorite subjects – is not a vague hope that it might… but a certain knowledge that it WILL. That our faith should be firmly rooted in the past – what Jesus did on the Cross – but has its fulfillment in the future.

He quoted the story of Jairus’s daughter from Mark 6, where Jairus exercised great faith and humility in asking Jesus to heal his daughter, saw Jesus respond, but then saw Him distracted by the crowd and a women with an issue of blood. Meanwhile, back home, his daughter died.

Jairus had every reason to blame Jesus, or perhaps the woman for Him not getting there sooner; to look at his daughter’s dead body and say to himself, it’s too late! But Jesus is never too late and in verse 36, Jesus comes to him and says, “Don’t be afraid, just (or only) believe”. We too have a choice, to look at our physical circumstances, or only believe – have “faith” in a supernatural God.

The implication is that If at that point Jairus had walked away in doubt and unbelief, his daughter would have remained dead. It has the same impact for the things we pray for. It seems it is possible to void our prayers by lack of faith or having doubt and unbelief.

But we can be assured that whatever we ask for in His name HAS been done, and we simply need to believe that what is already done in heaven so to speak, WILL if we are patient and continue to believe, be manifested here on earth. Sometimes the answer to our prayers will appear quickly, sometimes a long period will elapse. But when we ask and pray, God already knew that the prayer was coming (he knew us from before we were created in our mother’s womb) and already had the answer on the way.

So the way I see it, from the evidence of Scripture, when we pray it is IMPOSSIBLE FOR NOTHING TO HAPPEN, except if we stop believing. Exciting and challenging stuff!”

Friday 4th November 2011 - Ian McCormack, The Jellyfish Man

Stung by five deadly Box jelly fish, Ian was pronounced dead. Following an amazing experience, Ian returned to life just as the doctor was about to begin the autopsy!

Ian says; “Over the years some people have questioned my experience and I would like to reiterate this scripture (2 Cor 12: 2 – 4), “ I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago – whether in his body I do not know, or out of his body I do not know, God knows – such a man was caught up to the third heaven. And I know how such a man – whether in his body or apart from his body I do not know, God knows – was caught up into Paradise.”

I personally believe I died & was taken out of my body into the 3rd Heaven & Paradise. That I had a life after death experience where I stood before the Risen Lord Jesus Christ in His Glorified form (Rev 1 : 13 – 18). But at the end of the day, the person who truly knows is God.

Some people may not accept this is what happened which is totally fine.  I am not trying to tell you what to believe. You may believe it was just a dream or a hallucination. But one thing I do know, is that after following Jesus for the past 29 years, I can’t wait to see Him again and step through into the New Heavens & New Earth (Rev 21: 1 – 70, (2 Peter 3 : 10 – 18).

My prayer is that my testimony, which took place in 1982, may some how help you to know Jesus Christ as your Personal Lord & Saviour. (Romans 10 : 8 – 13)”.

Thank you to the many, many people,  who crowded into our meeting last night to hear the amazing and challenging testimony of Ian McCormack. Before Ian spoke, we had a Spirit filled time of worship, led by David Gilbey.

A moving poem was also read out, called Knowing Him, which spoke of finding a faith in Jesus. You can read it again here.

Ian then spoke, first declaring his firm belief in the healing power of God, describing several instances where he had prayed for people and seen miraculous recovery from sickness and disease, even cancer, in the name of Jesus. He went on to recount his story in great detail, taking many Scriptures from the Bible to illustrate and evidence what he had experienced.

Ian told us how in the last moments before he “died” from the effects of the jellyfish toxin he gave his life to Jesus, and towards the end of the meeting gave a heartfelt appeal to those present to commit or to re-commit their lives to Jesus. Around eight people came forward in response and received prayer.

Following this, many others came forward to receive pray for physical and emotional problems. Amongst the healings and miracles God was bringing, one lady who was partially deaf declared that she could hear better and a man with back pain caused by a mining accident years ago found the pain ease.

Friday 7th October 2011 -Bob Humphries

We were pleased to welcome Bob Humphries, from Norwich. Bob has been with us before. Together with his wife Linda, they head up Kedesh ministries.

Since 1992 and have seen God move in power, especially when they began to run their first drop in centre in Norwich. From there they moved to London and began managing a Christian Hostel for ex-offenders and within weeks they were working with the Chaplaincy in HMP Wandsworth. Here they gained a lot of experience working with inmates that self harmed and were potentially suicidal.

They later started a drop in centre in Battersea, London, and began to see re-creation miracles. Those most often seen were with women who were due for hysterectomy following their suffering for years of heavy and painful periods. Doctors were baffled and said “You seem to have a new womb. What has happened here?”

In 2007, God called Bob and Linda back to Norwich  where they have continued in the work of prayer walking the city as well as praying for the sick and suffering. In July 2008 they opened a drop in centre there which welcomes all with a cup of tea, a listening ear and the offer of prayer.

Bob and Linda have also been involved in prayer walking across England and Europe. They attend a Pentecostal Church in Norwich and are keen to link up with other Christian ministries.

The meeting tonight went really well with such a presence of the Lord.  Bob’s message was to encourage Believers to be bold and understand their authority where ever they are.  He has often set up a Christian stall in boot fairs and psychic fairs and had many people come for prayer, some have been saved and delivered. There was a good response to the ministry, many people came forward for prayer.

Friday 2nd September 2011  – Nigel Langford

Nigel Langford, who is on the leadership team at the Christian Growth Centre (CGC), here in Chelmsford was our speaker this evening.

As the son of a preacher man Nigel has been involved in ministry from a young age. Growing up in London he went to Brunel university doing a degree in Politics and Modern History. After graduation the destination was the city of London working for four years. But God called him into ministry full-time at twenty-five, in the role of Assistant and Associate Pastor at Southend Vineyard for a number of years. As time as elapsed Nigel and his wife Nicky have connected strongly and now serve on staff at the CGC, Chelmsford.

Nigel says, “We have a heart to see young people raised up in this generation to be what God has called them to be. We have a passion to see the Spirit of God poured out restoring and healing, we have a passion to see people equipped to take our towns and cities for Jesus!!”

The evening was a powerful one! David Gilbey led anointed worship, where the Holy Spirit was very evident and Ian Chamberlain, our keyboard player, also introduced and sang a lovely song written by the daughter of one of our Team.

Nigel then spoke about how it is now the time for us as Believers, to rise up, to reign and to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth. He spoke specifically about how it is the role of every Christian, not just “super-stars”, to pray for and see the sick recover. He illustrated this using two stories from the Gospels, where Jesus healed the woman with an issue of blood for 12 years, and the crippled man by the pool of Bethesda.

A time of ministry then took place, where Nigel sang over people who had come forward to receive healing and then anointed people with oil for greater power to go out and serve Jesus. Many were tangibly touched by the Holy Spirit.

Others were prayed for and received healing from God. Just two examples were a man who had back pain instantly leave, also a lady with left leg pain and who walked with a limp and a stick. She walked out, no pain, no limp and no stick! Praise God!

Friday 1st July 2011 – David Parker

On Friday 1st July, we were pleased to welcome David Parker as our guest speaker. David has previously ministered on four Continents and seen many people saved, filled with the Holy Spirit and set free. He has a passion to communicate the love of the Father, that made it all possible – John 3:16.

One of the most thrilling healings he has seen was in a packed church in Rio, Brazil, when they brought a lady who was in pain 24/7. She had been in a road accident two years previously, and after a mistake in the operating theatre could not walk without a walking aid.

After prayer she was running up and down waving her crutches!

David has also previously ministered with Roland in Slovakia, Czech Republic and Ukraine. He has been in leadership in Taunton for many years and is married with two children who are both going on with the Lord.

Friday 3rd June 2011 -Andrew Pearkes

On 3rd June we were pleased to welcome Andrew Pearkes from Exeter to our meeting. The church was packed with around 100 people.

After a time of worship and praise, where the Holy Spirit was clearly present, Andrew spoke about the need for each of us who are believers in Jesus, to recognise that we are able to go out and in His power, see other people saved, healed, set free and filled with the Holy Spirit.

We must not sit in our churches simply receiving a blessing, but take what we have received out to our workplaces, the supermarkets, the streets.

As Christians, through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we carry the same power and authority that Jesus used when he was here on earth and just as he used it to heal, drive out demons and set people free, so can we.

Many people responded to the word Andrew gave and came out for prayer and ministry. Many were clearly touched by the Holy Spirit and reported feeling pain leave and function and movement restored in their bodies.

Others were anointed for future service and felt “electricity” touch their bodies as the Holy Spirit came upon them.

Here is a link to Andrews website.
